7-0 up at home to Huddersfield
All set up to finish in the bottom 3 next season and come straight back down

And then be rewarded with more ££££££ for failure to do the same again
Got to love the system
And next season fulham will do the same , more reward for failure

Or, alternatively, you could say they are rewarded for the SUCCESS of getting promoted...

I believe that if they go straight back up, they don't receive a parachute payment - in fact it gets spread out across the other championship clubs?

Happily corrected, but I think this at least used to be the case?

That should be us if we ever get promoted which is unlikely, Spend nothing come back down and take it from there.

The parachute payments were originally put in because the Premier League originally wanted no promotion or relegation. The FA wouldn't pass the Premier League without promotion or relegation hence the parachute payments were the offset against relegation.

The past 5 games Norwich have scored more goals than us in our five games.. We've scored seven, last night they managed that in one game... :grinning:
But....they have have taken one point less than us.

We have twelve points from the last five games, only Watford with thirteen points have done better.

Apart from Watford and Norwich this season, the inconsistency in this league has been quite amusing at times. Look at Brentford and Swansea. Five games ago, they where both in with a shout of automatic promotion. At the moment, not the sort of form you want going into the play offs. Barnsley and maybe Bournemouth must really fancy their chances.

Shame we didn't have more points on the board. With Bournemouth, Brentford, Watford and Swansea coming up. It would have been an interesting end to the season. Well, if the fall out from the Stoke forums is anything to go by, it might end up being a right laugh if we can take points from the above teams.
They will be hysterical that Smallwall are spoiling their chances.

Isn’t that what happened to Crippled Alice? Didn’t they yo yo for a few seasons between the Premiershit and the Championship, all the while building up revenue from their parachute payments?

Not a bad business model, if you can make it work. All you’d need is a little bit of luck (and skill), to get to the Premiershit, get relegated at the end of your 1st season there, pocket the £140 million, pay off some (all your debts), and start buying the odd expensive player from home and abroad to help you get back up there again!

Repeat the process a few times, and after a few years, you’ll find yourselves back in the Premiershit, but this time with decent players who will keep you there!

Simples!

Their business plan to a tee.
